The Centre for Banking and Insurance Laws (CBIL) at National Law University Odisha (NLUO) is dedicated to fostering higher learning, research, and allied activities in the fields of Banking, Insurance, Finance, Insolvency, Taxation, and Fintech Laws. The Centre’s faculty members have actively engaged in various projects with entities such as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Institute of Insolvency Professionals of India. NLUO’s institutional support for collaborations, coupled with administrative flexibilities, has cultivated a culture of academic excellence, underpinned by unparalleled research prowess and acumen.
CBIL has significantly benefited from its alliance with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), culminating in the successful conclusion of a three-month-long certificate course with over 200 participants. The course featured distinguished faculties, members of the Bar, and heads of institutions, enriching sessions through their interactions with students. Furthermore, the Centre successfully conducted an essay competition on Insolvency Law with support from the IBBI.
Post economic liberalisation, the financial sector has registered exponential growth, trade barriers have become redundant and the flow of capital has become freer and far reaching. As such, Banking and Insurance sectors have driven the economy’s growth and development.
The Centre for Banking and Insurance Law (CBIL) at National Law University Odisha is dedicated to facilitating higher learning, research, and allied activities in the twin areas of Banking and Insurance Laws. It strives to foster intelligent analysis; focusing on enabling a deep and pervasive understanding of policies, regulatory mechanisms, and other aspects of these legal domains at state, national and international levels.
Objectives
- To conduct research in the areas of Banking and Insurance Laws in order to develop new insights of scholarly value and relevance.
- To facilitate discussion on Banking and Insurance Laws by providing a platform for exchange of ideas.
- To organise capacity development programmes by engaging stakeholders.
- To offer advisory services in Banking and Insurance Laws.
- To engage with regulators and statutory bodies for conducting research and allied activities.
